So this past saturday Dave, myself, and some friends decided to head to Madison for this free Music fest sponsered by SoCo. Was a very nice day and it was a pretty cool little fest.....and the price was right..FREE!!|
We started the day by seeing our friends band Del Mar which is always nice. Then we headed to the main stage and decided that we were going to camp there until the Flaming Lips came on. SO after 2 SoCo drinks I decided I had enough of that and switched to beer. Sadly they only had Bud products but I thought something was better than nothing so took the plunge into gut rot hell. The first band we saw was Sick Puppy, which were pretty good and very entertaining. Next was Cowboy Mouth, I know some of you love this band and for my next comment I am sorry. I thought they sucked. The lead singer seems to have really poor self esteem and he mainly spent the hour yelling at people to clap and applaud him. To make it worse the fans are a**holes, worse than DMB fans (sorry, I know this doesn't include any of you). What really did it for me was this little 22 wanna-be-hippie chic who took it upon herself to inform me how I should "open up" and learn to enjoy music better..>WTF! Then took another 5 minutes to tell me how I was ruining everyones show. All I was doing was standing there, not talking, not throwing any negative comments out, actually trying to find something I like about the band. Needless to say my inner diva took over and words were said with me pretty much shutting her up. She then proceeded to scream and yell in my ear, I almost slapped her. Instead I figured her life must suck so bad that I ignored her.......but made sure I was always right in front of her to block her view. I mean come on, I had to do something. Coldwar Kids were pretty darn good.
And the reason we went, The Flaming Lips. it was my first time seeing them and they impressed. We were about 10 feet from the stage so I got to help pass around Wayne is his ball and saw lots of confetti. Eventually I left to take a view from the back which was also worth the time and way less people. All in all GOOD TIMES!
